Executive Profiles

Dave Mathews
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Mathews joined Healthy Directions, LLC in July 2010 as Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. Previously, Mr. Mathews served as Interim CEO of the Blair Corporation following his tenure as President & Chief Operating Officer of Blair’s parent, Orchard Brands. Mr. Mathews other experience includes three years at Circuit City as President of Circuit City Direct. Earlier in his career, he spent three years at Dell, Inc. in marketing and merchandising, as well as 11 years in various management positions with LL Bean, Inc. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Maine.

Mr. Hauck joined Healthy Directions, LLC in January 2001 and he is responsible for brand management, business development, internet marketing, and legal and regulatory administration. Mr. Hauck holds an MBA degree from the JL Kellogg School at Northwestern University, and a BA in Business and Economics from Wittenberg University. Previously, he co-founded and served as Managing Director at Vector Development, LLC, a venture capital firm specializing in emerging technology. Hauck also served as Senior Vice President and Group Publisher of Phillips Business Information.

In her role as CFO, Ms. Tawney is responsible for the financial and administrative functions of the company, including accounting, treasury, and human resources.  She joined Healthy Directions in 2004 after serving as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Phillips International, Inc. from 1999 until the sale of Phillips Health.  Prior to joining PII, she held various positions at Lockheed Martin Corporation including Director of Value Based Management, and Director of International Finance.  Ms. Tawney has a BS degree in Business Administration from Towson University, a MBA degree from Loyola College, and she is a CPA.

Mr. DiFato is responsible for all Healthy Directions’ operations, including supplement and health merchandise product research, customer service, fulfillment services, purchasing, and facilities services.  He holds a BA in Business Administration from Pace University.  Mr. DiFato served in an operations leadership capacity with Phillips Health since 1998.  Previously, he was Vice President of Operations for Selective Service and Supply Co., Inc. in Atlanta.  Mr. DiFato was Director of Operations and Customer Service at American Express and was a member of the operations management team at Lillian Vernon.

Michael Burroughs

Mr. Burroughs leads the technology development and implementation, including database management, information systems, and applications development.  He has an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from Charles County Community College, and a Certificate of Telecommunications from DePaul University.  He also attended the U.S. Naval Academy for two years.  Mr. Burroughs joined Phillips Health in 1995 to lead customer service operations and systems.  Prior to joining Phillips, Mr. Burroughs served as Vice President of Operations and Customer Service for The Faneuil Group, headquartered in Boston, MA, while serving from the Chicago, IL location.

Erica Bullard

Ms. Bullard is responsible for Healthy Directions’ copywriting and creative strategy, creative services, editorial and content development, and creative development.  Ms. Bullard holds a BA degree in Comparative Area Studies and History from Duke University.  She joined Phillips in 1993, and has held numerous editorial and publishing positions, including Managing Editor of Dr. David Williams’ Alternatives newsletter and Vice President of Content Development.

Kelly Cleary

Ms. Cleary, the newest member of the Executive team, leads the Direct Marketing division of Healthy Directions. This includes mail planning, reporting, analysis, and strategy for all acquisition and retention direct mail efforts. She also manages the list sales division. Ms. Cleary holds a BS in Business Administration from Marist College in Poughkeepsie NY. She joined the marketing team of Phillips in 1996 and was the brand director for the Dr. David Williams brand from 1999 to 2007. Prior to joining Phillips, Ms. Cleary was a Media Buyer at CCMR Marketing Communications in Kingston, NY.
